Apart from the hope that this brings down DEI, I heartily agree. A few years ago she would have been known as an “affirmative action hire”. That program has finally been ruled unconstitutional and we cheered at the news of that beast’s death, failing to drive a stake in its heart before we buried it. It has risen anew as DEI. Except, that is not exactly true as affirmative action died far more recently that DEI arrived on scene. Perhaps it is more correct to say that we cheered when the head of the Affirmative action dragon was severed; not realizing that what lurked in the shadows was not the body of a dragon but that of a hydra that had only shown us one of its heads. The DEI head may be in the process of being whacked off, but others are still out there.

In my 50 some years, I have yet to see any case where the left is beaten. They just rebrand and repackage what we thought we eliminated. They never stop.

I do think that October 7 was a clear wake up call (along with the trans-mania). More and more people now realize that DEI is anything but the nice fluffy thing it's proponents claim it is

Oct. 7th certainly opened a lot of willfully closed eyes to antisemitism on campus, that is for sure, and to the point of causing actually reprisals; donations reduced, admissions down and at least a few firms stating that grads of certain colleges need not apply. Long over due but this is big. However, I doubt the impact will be as great as it should be. Those denied employment in the private sector are of the belief system government agencies seek. Being turned down for employment at private companies over wokism will be on the plus side of the ledger for government positions. Donations from those angered by antisemitism will be replaced with money from China and Hamas. Illegal aliens will be granted government scholarships to make for lost enrollments. DEI will be rebranded and repackaged and reintroduced just as affirmative action was.

I have seen far too many earth shattering bombshells going back to the Clintons that should have resulted in real change. None have. At best, speed bumps have been out in front of lonely lefty policies as a result. Usually not even that little. I hope that this time it’s different, but I doubt it will be.
